Our Bladder and Bowel Specialist Nurses are qualified nurses who have received specialist training to enable them to provide high quality care for people living with bladder and bowel problems.
Our aim is to improve, or effectively manage a patient’s condition and provides help and support to patients and carers whilst they are dealing with incontinence.
Continence Symptoms
Bladder and bowel problems are extremely common and affect approx.
1 in 4 adults at some point in their lives. In spite of it being a common problem many people feel embarrassed and distressed about it and can be reluctant to seek help. Seeking help can really improve a persons’ quality of life with the right assessment and treatment programme.
There are different symptoms and reasons for continence problems including:
- Stress incontinence - Urinary leakage when you cough, laugh or sneeze
- Urge incontinence - Needing to rush to get to the toilet and sometimes leaking before you get there
- Nocturia - Waking up more than a couple of times in the night to pass urine
- Functional incontinence - Having a condition or disability that stops being able to remove your clothes quickly or get to the toilet in time
- Bowel Incontinence - Difficulty in controlling bowel movements

How to access our service?
We accept referrals from anyone living in East Cheshire or registered with an East Cheshire GP. If you'd like to be referred to our service, make an appointment to see your GP.
