The Critical Care Unit at Macclesfield was refurbished during 2021 and opened in its present form in March 2022 with 7 individual patient rooms. Critical Care provides patient care and treatment, which involves continuing the management and supervision by the multi-disciplinary team comprising of specially trained Doctors, Nurses, Physiotherapists, Pharmacists, Dieticians and Speech and Language Therapists.
The philosophy of Macclesfield Critical Care Unit considers that:
- Critical Care provides a commitment to the needs and requirements of the acutely ill patient, using a holisitic approach to achieve recovery where possible with dignity and compassion.
- Each person is an individual and will be treated with respect, empathy and preservation of dignity. Religious beliefs and cultural traditions will be respected.
- Communication with the patient and their families is essential in the provision of Critical Care.
