Children's Physiotherapy and Occupational Therapy Services provide targeted specialist intervention for babies, children and young people from birth to 16 years of age (and sometimes up to 19 years). The service aims to assist children to achieve their maximum physical and functional potential.
Once a referral has been accepted, the child will be assessed and if appropriate a treatment programme with goals will be devised. These will be reviewed and evaluated at agreed intervals. As well as providing treatment, we train those around the child/young person to carry out therapy programmes and postural management throughout the day. Children will be seen in a location suitable for their needs and the intervention required. This could be at home, nursery, school, special school or in the clinic.
The services we provide are:
- Children's Physiotherapy
- Children's Occupational Therapy
- Children's Orthotics
- Monday - Thursday - 8:30 – 17:00
- Friday - 8:30 – 16:30
All referrals must be medical; made through the child’s GP, Paediatricians, Health Visitor or another Therapist. The referrer will complete a referral form and letter providing relevant medical information and reason for referral. This helps the clinician decide what type of assessment and where to assess. All referrals should be sent to the booking centre
We aim to have assessed all referrals within 18 weeks. Urgent cases will be seen within two weeks.
